This study include 300 term and 150 preterm newborns followed clinically for possible AD onset until 2 years and found that hyperlinear palms in infants at 2 months of age are significantly associated with a higher risk of developing atopic dermatitis (AD) by age 1–2. Even after adjusting for parental atopy and filaggrin gene mutations, the association remained strong. This could become a simple early marker for AD risk in newborns.
